The hot topic of the day and no one has started a discussion? Since
it is so closely related to AA and since I haven't been flamed for at
least a couple of weeks, I`ll say the following: SH is not a problem.
First, it is something ill-defined and subjective, like the FCC
rule prohibiting offensive speech on the air waves. What kind of a law
is it that one cannot tell whether or not one is breaking it? It is one
thing to make it illegal to have a bargain where sex is traded for a
job. It is quite another to make it illegal to make comments of a sexual
nature, where that is left as a floating definition.
Second, why is SH a problem? Is it harassment or is it discrimination?
No one has 'freedom' from harassment. That's just silly. We are all
harassed all of the time in various and sundry ways that's just part of
life. Congress is supposed to make it go away by saying no harassment
please? Is it discrimination? Well maybe. I'll save this for later
if anyone actually thinks this is the issue.
Three, what does it matter? Here's the deal: You have to give me
a blow job every day for lunch. You have to have sex with me every day
before I go home. You have to flirt with the other employees in the office.
In between these important :-) responsibilities, a little typing and filing
would be nice. I'll pay your $50,000/year. Do you want the job? That's
the deal. I have told you everything up front, you can take it or leave it.
If you feel it is harassment, you have agreed to accept compensation for that
harassment. [BTW, the above paragraph is gender neutral :-) ]
